The joint meeting with Gamma Alpha was held on February 26 at the Morrow First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. We celebrated Mardi Gras with a float (table) decorating contest. Votes were cast with money and funds raised were donated to the Calvary Refuge Center in Forest Park. GAE President Lisa Morgan spoke about current issues in the legislature. Members donated school supplies to be distributed by Nothing But The Truth. Chef Dawn catered a Mardi Gras inspired lunch of fried chicken, beans and rice, shrimp and grits, green beans, and king cake. Officers for the 2022-2024 biennium were elected and members voted to host a table at the Ferst Foundation Luncheon. Flora Hazelton and Rebecca Hardeman were initiated as new members.

Chapter MeetingThe final chapter meeting of the biennium took place at Magnolia House in Jonesboro. Our business meeting was conducted on the front porch, where we finalized details for the pen pal reveal party and installed new officers. Officers include: President Vance Wallace, VP Debra Davis, Recording Secretary Terdra Brooks, Corresponding Secretary Cindy Thompson, Treasurer Tonia Lindsey and Parliamentarian Rebecca Hardeman.

Door Prizes and Lunch

After a two year delay, due to the pandemic, we hosted The Power of Sisterhood Luncheon and silent auction. Funds raised will be used to sponsor children at the Spivey Hall Summer Music Camp at Clayton State University. Corina Barbee, Director of Magnolia House, was our guest speaker and she served an Italian feast! Special guests Education Assistant at Spivey Hall Mary Miller and CCPS School Board members Mary Baker and Victoria Williams were present.

The chapter meeting was called to order by new President Vance Wallace. Terdra Brooks shared the poem "Whose Child is This." Sandra Richardson shared information about sex trafficking and the work of GiGi's house in helping girls. We voted to donate $300 to support their efforts. Members planned their table decorations for the tea party themed chapter meeting in November. Vance presented Cheryl with flowers, thanking her for her support. Lunch was catered by Chicken Salad Chick.

Alpha Iota had a wonderful chapter meeting with a tea party theme. We decorated tables and voted for our favorite with cash. The winning table determined the recipient of the funds, which will be Clayton County Friends of the Library. President Vance Wallace presided over the meeting and Vice President Debra Davis presented the inspirational message about the importance of rest. Mr. Willie McDowell presented tips for self defense and the chapter voted to donate gift cards to Clayton County Public School Homeless Department to help families this holiday season.
