We began the morning with brunch and a Premier Design Jewelry fundraiser. Members signed birthday cards and cards for those not present. State President Virginia McChesney spoke about the importance of leadership in the success of a chapter. Shar'ron Russell, from Georgia Power, presented an update on progress in Clayton County and inspired us all with her story and passion for women and education. We collected items for the Calvary Refuge Center and enjoyed a lunch of soup and salads.
Chapter Meeting September 7, 2019
Dana Black kicked off the meeting with a fantastic presentation on health and wellness. Dr. Stacy Black was initiated as a new member. We collected coats for the Safe Center at Banneker High School. Guests Randi Carter, Debra Davis and Terdra Brooks attended the meeting and Terdra decided to join us! Members voted to award a $500 scholarship to Maureen Keillor who is pursuing a Media and Technology degree at West Georgia.
Chapter Meeting May 4, 2019
The morning began with a tour of Arts Clayton. We planned to have our business meeting at The Fig Tree, however due to emergency building issues they were closed. The ladies at Taste of Thai were very accommodating and we relocated there. We celebrated the 90th birthday of DKG and collected school supplies for Nothing But the Truth. Diane spoke about the work the organization does and Sonia Davis spoke about CCPS Homeless Education department. We enjoyed the company of two guests, Tonia Lindsey and Aroulue Flemmen Prater.
Chapter Meeting November 2, 2019
Three new members were inducted - Elaine Kilgore, Terdra Brooks and Debra Davis. We were joined by guests Luvenia Jackson, Dr. Rorie Real and Harnary Seig. Cindy Thompson led a card workshop. Our cards and other donations were collected for Operation Gratitude. Caroline Soto, of Premier Design Jewelry, helped us raise funds for literacy projects and scholarships. We made plans for our booth at the Ladies Luncheon at First Baptist Church and enjoyed a catered lunch.
